LEAPP developed the Safety Management System (SMS) for Dubai International Airport to enable the airport to achieve compliance with the certification requirements of ICAO Annex 14 and the UAE Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) of the General Civil Aviation Authority. Preparation of the SMS involved a thorough inspection of the airport's airside facilities and operations and identification of all safety hazards. This was followed by a risk assessment for all noted hazards. Complete SMS Documentation was prepared based on the ICAO format and incorporated the hazard identification and risk assessment element and addressed all procedures where safety is potentially involved. Following preparation of the SMS, the LEAPP team prepared the Aerodrome Manual for Dubai International Airport, which was submitted to the GCAA for approval.
