LEAPP formed part of the Master Planning Team for the International Passenger Terminal at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. The project required assessment of the operations and level of service provided in the International Terminal Building, and involved carrying out an examination of the passenger terminal space requirements over a 22 year planning horizon to accommodate 28 million passengers per annum in the future. Analysis of processing space requirements for passenger handling and baggage processing was undertaken, along with dynamic simulation of a number of different check-in counter demand scenarios, including common carrier alliance operations and brand-dominated practices.
In addition, LEAPP conducted a simulation of passenger flows and processors in the International Terminal Building, to determine the facility requirements of the processors and holding spaces to bring the terminal capacity from 9mppa to 28mppa in 20 years, and to increase the gate provision from 37 gates to 70 gates over the same period.
