Louang Phrabang Airport Air Transport System Analysis and Air Traffic Forecast

Under contract to the Asian Development Bank (TA:4913-LAO) LEAPP prepared an airport improvement plan for the Louangphrabang Airport. As input to this, LEAPP analysed the potential for air transport services development for the airport taking into account the national and regional tourism development plan, potential air transport service expansions, and other relevant development plans and strategies. The air traffic market of Louangphrabang Airport is primarily driven by tourist demand and susceptible to influences such as the availability of accommodation and supporting tourist infrastructure. Taking into consideration all relevant influences, the air traffic forecast for the airport was developed for passengers, cargo and aircraft movements and used as the basis for sizing future airport infrastructure presented in the airport improvement plan for construction under a Chinese financing programme.
