LEAPP was appointed by the Spanish Airports Authority (AENA), the world's largest airport authority, to assist in the development of safety management systems for all of the Spanish Airports. The project involved developing the format and approach to documenting the SMS for each of AENA's 47 airports. Of particular relevance was the requirement to carry out on-site hazard identification and risk assessment for 2 of AENA's international airports, and to carry out training of AENA staff in identifying airside hazards and in assessing the risk of such hazards to aircraft using the airports.
