Terminal Simulation
LEAPP provided specialist terminal planning assistance
to YVR in the evaluation of options for processing transborder
passengers. The firm assisted in the development of possible
processing options involving by-pass arrangements for certain processors, and developed a simulation to replicate
the YVR terminal, carrying out extensive simulation tests
of passenger flows through the modified processor arrangements.
Processors simulated included:

• Check-in for 9 airlines
• US Immigration
• US Customs
• Baggage Drop
• YVR Airport Improvement Fee Counters
• Security and Hand Baggage X-Ray
processing
The results of the simulation enabled the Airport Authority to determine
the impact of specific physical solutions to improving passenger processing
in the terminal.

The simulation was provided to YVR with on-screen data
displays, and an interactive capability so that the Authority
staff can modify input traffic volumes for each of the
9 airlines, and make changes to the types of passenger
flow distributions affecting each of the processors. This enabled the
Airport Authority to carry out its own subsequent testing under changed
parameters. |
